TCM physician suspended 15 months

SINGAPORE: A traditional Chinese medicine physician has been suspended for 15 months for prescribing a herbal powder containing Clonazepam, a scheduled poison under the Poisons Act, to a patient.
In March last year, Yong Lin Swee, a TCM physician and acupuncturist at Dah Kai Medical & Departmental Store in Parkway Parade, was convicted in the Subordinate Courts and fined S$2,000 for his actions.
The TCM Practitioners Board subsequently conducted an inquiry.
It found that the treatment rendered by Yong to the female patient is not in accordance with his registration as a TCM physician and acupuncturist.
The Board ruled that his conduct amounted to a breach of TCM rules and decided to suspend and censure him.
Yong was also ordered to pay costs and expenses incidental to the inquiry. - CNA/nd
