United Arab Emirates best! No tax!

If we are going to have GST, we must do away with the income tax! Why are our income taxed? We are not a serf any more and we are suppose to be master of our own land. So why is the fruits of our labour being taxed?

Simple. Governments need money to run the country - they need to build schools, hospitals, houses, roads, rails, airports, police stations, army camps, provide water and electricity.......and many more.

You pay income tax to partly support all these infrastructure and services to ensure that you and your family live in the country with a reasonable standard of living and security. Progressive income tax means those who earn a higher income pay a higher income tax, and those who earn less pay less - each pays according to his ability to pay to support the government.

GST or VAT means you pay when you consume. The more you consume or buy, the more you pay. The less you consume, the less you pay - but some essential services are GST free like school fees or hospital fees.

When you live in a place with abundant natural resources like gas and oil and mineral resources in countries like Brunei and UAE, then you pay less or no tax because these resources are able to pay for all these government services.

Unfortunately, Singapore has no natural resources to support government services or building of infrastructure. So taxes are imposed on citizens (personal income tax); taxes on goods and services consume (GST) and taxes on companies that make profits.

Some countries like Australia have very high income taxes even though they have many natural resources. This is because they need to support all their citizens who are not working or unable to work because they are retired or not fit. They call this the Social Security Tax. It supports social welfare for the people.

People who pay income taxes are indeed the master, not the slaves. Without you, the government simply cannot exist.

Only dumb fucks like you think that your lives are owned by someone and hence it is alright to tax the fruits of your labour.

It is because of people like you with your kind of mentality, gives the government more power than they deserve and hence screwed you upside down and you still think that it is fine.

Anyone who think that government has all the answers and hence need the money to run those programs are really dumb. That's why PAP can stay in power for so long because of this kind of mentality.

U wrong . Best is the currency that peg with SG$ that Brunei. No tax..............................free school,university,medical........................

You think the education you receive come from heaven? That investors naturally flock to Singapore to set up factories and offices so that they can create jobs for you? You think the rivers in Singapore are highways and expressways that you can drive your cars? You think you have swallowed the fruit of immortality and never get sick?

Get your brain examined - before you become the Bangla of Singapore "labouring" in some distant land! That's where you will get your "fruits". Or, have your brain got already roasted?
