6 years ago, the Government realised that bus services could not meet needs of its own Singaporeans let alone new citizens and foreigners. The MRT was nearing "crushload" (love the lady with bad hairstyle for it).

In 2011, the PAP MP out of fright for nearly losing his constituency to. Jeannette Aruldoss, famously tested the bus service serving his constituency immediately after the elections. This was followed shortly by the new Minister of Transport doing the same thing at a bus stop.

In 2012, Tharman announces $1.1 Billion rescue package where the govt will acquire 550 buses. The red flag surfaces. The privatisation religion where PAP baptises it's MPs and sycophants suddenly became a new age church.

This week the rescue package / total bailout / nationalisation / save their butt programme was announced. The stock exchange reacted immediately. GLCs bailed out saw their stock prices surge. The Govt was going to acquire their bus and bus related assets

In a nutshell, it was nationalisation in the first instance and then tenders to provide services using newly bought and acquired taxpayer assets. To take the edge off, London and Australia was brought into the picture.

My reaction was Mahathir rescuing his cronies and his son loomed in front of me.

The question is - is this why Raymond Lim is a known fan of privatisation stepped down. Secondly, how much of taxpayers money is going to be used to acquire the assets back from the GLCs and is the valuation fair. Thirdly, is there any doubt that the profitability of the impacted GLCs will improve.

Love the PAP and SPH. SPH not once used the term bailout or nationalisation. The prostitutes they are. But when it came to a young girl who was prepared to take on the mighty PAP, having an affair with a married man reporting ( false of course) was not a problem.

Ouch! watch it Scrooey baby, this is a bit Roy-esque. Dont get srewed too.

I know I went too far when I mentioned the bad hairstyle. That was clearly defamatory. To someone it could be sexy as hell.

using 1.1 billion of public fund to support a private company when their yearly reports announces hundred million in profits? logic clearly gone out of the windows, or am i missing out something here?

The bus service is clearly under stress. The poor planning in regard to intake of foreigners is the catalyst here. A series of policy failures have finally come to roost. It's not even the bus service, it also the MRT that is going to be taken over. This state of affairs cannot be left to fester.

The situation become even more inflamed when GLCs who were given monopoly over these services are now victims of these poor policies. They are now seen as protected and given special deals. Mind you they are paid market rates.

This is a disaster that is the making of the PAP government. It's a monster they created. This is not due to a natural disaster or an unexpected turn of events.

No sane leader will ever have his wife as the head of state sovereign fund which controls so much of entities that have monopolistic position. It's a powder keg that will blow. Is she endowed with some special gifts or vision. Was it worth it.

This where the cabinet should have advised the PM. They kept quiet and we all know that they too realise that it is not a good combination.

They are just too big to fail. Too big.

Like the PAP. We need all the taxidermy we can find.

tama-sick is biggest shareholder;
taking citizen money to rescue public company is to patch tama-sick loss.

No, you have forgotten Biology....on a skeleton, the toe bone is connected to the feet bone, that is connected to the leg bone that is connected to the hip bone, that is connected to whatever section of bone.....the 'cock bone'...that is the part you have missed...

The key word is 'connected to'...:D

1.1 billion to buy 550 buses, each bus 2 million?
Why so expensive?

They charge the cost of the buses, with current interests rates & future interests rates & this will be the job of Pass The Cost, to recommend fare increases for they tell the commuters will be told that will be getting better buses & services etc....

THIS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COMMUTERS TO PAY FOR THE EXPENSIVE BUSES....

Very chim, I don't understand.
I thought more likely they procure at high price through some crony company?

But Desmond already earns from the taxpayer--his SAF pension. Same for TCJ and CCS.

The blueprint for the Loyang bus terminal is not public knowledge yet I believe? It's fucking big; the area. Loyang Valley Condo value dropped? Think of all the diesel fumes. And it will definitely require a new entry road into the Loyang Industrial estate. If not ......Jesus Christ!

the way you all push.... sekali tml wake up boh zhen hu liaoz.

Don't be scared no government. Multiple million dollars jobs sure got takers.

It really doesn't make sense for each bus to cost 2 million. I believed each bus at most cost 300k.

300k x 550 buses = 165 million.

What happened to the change from 1.1 billion?
