DOMESTIC. Youth supervision and youth care. It was the punishment for two 18-year-old immigrants who drove a Swede of the same age into the woods and filmed while torturing and humiliating him after forcing him to undress naked.
In July 2022, the Swedish teenager met two immigrants and a Swede outside Lidl in Jönköping.
He thought they were going to be his friends and that they were going to take a car ride together to “chill.”
One of the immigrants suggested that they go out to Rogbergasjön just outside Riddersberg. On the way there, the car stopped at a forest road. All four sat in the car for a while, smoking cigarettes. Suddenly, one of those immigrants made a stranglehold with his arm around the victim’s neck, but then dismissed the whole thing as “just kidding.”
The two immigrants in the back seat then got out of the car and started speaking Arabic to each other, the victim said during questioning. When they then got back into the car, the same person who strangled the victim picked up a knife, put it to his throat and said:
“I’m going to kill you.”
Gutted with fear
The two immigrants then forced him out of the car, told him to take off his clothes and took his mobile phone. He did as they said.
The man with the knife held it to the victim’s throat and then they pulled him down onto the hill and started beating him. Both kicks and punches with clenched fists, both head and body.
While beating him, they accused him of being a “squealer.”
He was so scared that he involuntarily emptied his bowels.
The duo scratched his back with a stick that was about 30–40 cm long. They also scratched his back with the knife and dragged him around.
“Dance the Macarena”
Parts of the torture were filmed and in the film you can hear someone shouting:
“Dance the Macarena!”
The assault was estimated to have lasted somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes. The victim states that the third person, the Swede, stood outside and watched but did nothing active.
“If you tell anyone this, there will be problems for your family,” explained the man with the knife.
Had to run through the forest
They then told the victim to run into the woods, which he did, and heard the car drive away.
The victim eventually managed to get to an inhabited house where he can call for help.
The two now sentenced immigrants are today 18 and 17 respectively. But because they were under 18 when the crime was committed, they get away with very light sentences.
Very mild punishments
The 18-year-old is sentenced to one year of youth supervision for access to drugs and serious assault.
The 17-year-old receives youth care for serious assault, abuse of means of transportation, illegal driving, violation of traffic regulations, drunk driving, minor drug offenses and negligence in traffic.
The Swede who was in the car was charged with aiding and abetting an extremely serious assault but was acquitted as there was no evidence that he participated in the assault.
Both convicts have been granted Swedish citizenship and therefore cannot be deported under current legislation.
