Taipei, July 28 (CNA) A 27-year-old man who wounded four passengers in a random knife attack at a Taipei Metro station on July 20 was indicted Tuesday on charges of attempted murder.

The Shilin District Prosecutors Office indicted the suspect, Kuo Yen-chun (郭彥君), after the district court agreed on July 21 to prosecutors' request to detain him on grounds that he may attempt to flee.

Wielding a 20-centimeter-long fruit knife, Kuo launched a random attack on passengers at the Mass Rapid Transit system's Zhongshan Station just before 9 p.m. on July 20, injuring four people, police said.

All four victims -- three women and one man --were hospitalized with knife wounds that were not life threatening, according to police.

The suspect said he had been jobless for a long time and was in a "bad mood" that day, according to investigators.

About 10 station security officers subdued the suspect within a minute of the attack.
