State-run China Central Television confuses United States National Security Advisor Susan Rice with former US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice. In a news cast on Sunday, the broadcaster showed the picture of Condoleezza Rice. Susan Rice is on a three-day trip to Beijing to prepare for the visit of US President Barack Obama in November. China’s state broadcaster on Monday appeared to have confused United States National Security Advisor Susan Rice with the nation’s former secretary of state who carries the same surname.

A video uploaded to the YouTube account of China Central Television English News channel on Sunday showed that the broadcaster used the pictures of former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice that says the security advisor had arrived in Beijing.

All three still pictures used in the 50-second news item were of Condoleezza Rice.

Two internet users pointed out the pictures used are incorrect, and that Condoleezza Rice was not from the administration of US President Barack Obama.

The state broadcaster appeared to have corrected the mistake. In a video posted to its official website on Monday morning covering the same news content, it used pictures of Susan Rice instead.

Susan Rice is on a three-day trip to Beijing to prepare Obama’s visit to China in November.
