Citigroup to axe 4,500 jobs: Vikram Pandit
New york: Citigroup chief Vikram Pandit has announced 4,500 jobs cuts worldwide in the coming months as the US financial major seeks to trim costs in a bleak economic environment.

Mumbai: The Sensex is likely to rule between 13,200 and 14,400 points and the rupee may touch Rs 54-55 by June next, Credit Suisse India has said in a report. The market is not trading at its face value and possibility of downtrend is likely, it said.
Global cooperation needed to deal with black money, says finance minister
New Delhi: Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday asked other countries to coordinate their tax systems with India’s to effectively limit flows of black money as the government seeks to renegotiate pacts with some low-tax nations. Addressing a global conference on tax and equality, he said that illicit inflows of money from developing countries amount to between $725 billion and $810 billion a year. “The complexity of cross border transactions is on a rise and presents a serious challenge to tax administrators in practicing and bringing equality. The opacity of tax systems in some of the jurisdiction is adding to the challenges,” he added. His audience included the deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund, Zhu Min, and the Chinese vice-minister of finance, Wang Jun.

景氣寒冬也讓銀行金飯碗，越來越難捧，全球金融業龍頭「花旗」宣布要裁員4500人，其他包括匯豐、美國銀行，都有傳出裁員的消息，這些外商銀行台灣的分公司，都表示還在評估中，目前都沒有縮編。不過，反觀國內車市卻是旺到不行，裕隆的納智捷，甚至宣布明年起要徵才上千人，其他包括豐田、福特也都宣布要大舉徵才！
今年初，國內外商銀行龍頭花旗，才在高雄一口氣開出四家新分行，沒想到現在卻傳出要全球大裁員，花旗執行長潘迪宣布，從年底開始，整個集團要砍掉4500人，大約是總員工的2%。花旗台灣子公司方面星期三緊急召開會議，作出定期檢視員工數的聲明，但沒有回應是否要裁員。
同樣是國內的外商銀行，匯豐前陣子找來當紅的柯震東和陳妍希合拍廣告，現在也傳出未來三年內，全球要裁員30000人，台灣方面是否縮編，也在檢視中。另外像是德意志銀行以及美國銀行，全球也都展開了裁員行動，雖然台灣的分公司都還沒有計畫，不過也突顯出銀行金飯碗越來越難捧，反觀國內車市，卻是旺到不行。裕隆集團執行長嚴凱泰：「今年我覺得應該是(跟明年)差不多吧！36、37萬台吧我猜想，因為現在有太多變數。」
裕隆執行長嚴凱泰話講得很有自信，旗下納智捷明年喊出徵上千人，對手豐田代理商和泰，明年考慮辦大型招募會，台灣馬自達宣布要增加15%業務人員，福特六和更計畫在二到三年內人力增50%，車商加足馬力往前飆，旺到不行的盛況和金融業的慘況，形成強烈的對比。
