ISLAMABAD: The Aabpara Police on Monday recovered the body of the missing Singapore super model from the Korang Nullah, Bhara Kahu, on the information of her captor, police said. Fehmina Salman, 27, was kidnapped for ransom and murdered in Islamabad after her Karachi-based mother informed the police about her abduction after coming to Islamabad to purchase a residential plot.

Fehmina, who remained Miss Singapore thrice, would often visit her mother Naushaba Taskeen, who lives at 333-C, Block-II, PECHS, Karachi. The sources said Fehmina came to Karachi in the last week of September to shift her mother from Karachi to Islamabad. She contacted an Islamabad-based property dealer Syed Maaz Waqar, son of Syed Waqar, who asked her to come to Islamabad as he had some good plots in some posh areas.

Fehmina reached Islamabad by air on October 9 and stayed at the Margalla Hotel near the Sports Complex. However, she went missing on October 10.Naushaba Taskeen reached Islamabad on October 12 and lodged a complaint with the Aabpara Police, the police said.

An FIR (No. 394 dated 12/10/13) was registered under Sections 365-A/34 PPC and an investigation was launched. In her complaint, Naushaba said Fehmina contacted her on October 9 telling her that she was staying at the Margalla Hotel. The mother said she contacted her daughter the last time on October 10 at 6pm.

Fehmina told her mother she was going for a meeting for the purchase of a plot but later her phone was found switched off. She had to leave for Singapore on Oct 11 but did not return. However, Naushaba received an SMS on her cellphone telling her Fehmina had been abducted for ransom along with two persons out of which one had been killed.

The captors told her that Fehmina was in their custody in Peshawar and demanded Rs20 million for her safe release. The captors threatened that they would kill Fehmina along with her other family members. They also threatened that their men were present in Karachi too, who would implement the threat. The captors asked Naushaba to arrange the ransom within two days and would send an SMS to her again.

Naushaba named Maaz Waqar and his friend for kidnapping her daughter for ransom.Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case, the police chief constituted a team comprising SP City, ASP City and SHO Aabpara, the police said. The team straightaway hunted down the main suspect Maaz Waqar who confessed to his crime and disclosed that he along with his friend had killed Fehmina and thrown her body in the Korang Nullah.
