A Changchun man dressed only in his underwear barely escaped death after his wife managed to grab on to his leg just as he jumped out of their apartment window.
At around 7:40am on Wednesday morning, a topless man in the capital of Jilin province of northeastern China attempted to commit suicide by leaping from the window of his sixth floor apartment. As the man jumped, his wife managed to catch his leg, leaving the man's rear end exposed as he dangled from the window.
Police were called, but the first four officers at the scene were unable to open the door. Eventually the officers with the help of neighbors managed to pry the door open with a crowbar and managed to grab the man and pull him back to safety.
The wife held on to her husband's leg for about 20 minutes before help arrived, no small feat considering he was 175 centimeters tall and weighed around 65 kilograms.
Witnesses say by the time the 40-something man was rescued he had calmed down and no longer wanted to take his own life. Internet users have praised the man's wife for her heroic efforts, with some dubbing her a "good Chinese wife."
