A tragedy has shaken the gym of Poirino, where Martina Gillio, a 22-year-old girl, was struck by a sudden fatal illness. During a normal training session, Martina felt a strong headache that shortly after resulted in cardiac arrest. The death It happened in hospital 24 hours later: the authorities are now investigating to clarify the causes of this sudden tragedy.

After seeing her collapse on the ground, it was her boyfriend who called the relief efforts. 118 intervened quickly, using the defibrillator in the gym and then transferring Martina by helicopter to the Le Molinette hospital. Despite their attempts, the girl did not make it. The Prosecutor's Office has started an investigation to ascertain the causes of the death. Mayor Nicholas Padalino has proclaimed five days of mourning for the city.

A message of condolence was posted on the gym's social media:

"We are shocked and deeply affected due to what happened to our Martina, the center will remain temporarily closed."
In the Poirino gym where Martina Gillio, 22 years old, trained, there would be no air conditioning system, as confirmed by the staff of the facility. On the first floor, numerous windows are opened to facilitate air exchange, especially on these hot days.

The young woman, originally from Chieri, felt ill during a session in the weight room. The staff intervened immediately, performing resuscitation and using the defibrillator, but her condition immediately appeared critical.

After 24 hours of agony, the young woman is dead at the Le Molinette hospital in Turin. Trainer Giuseppe Altavilla painfully recalled that Martina had started going to the gym since she was little, taking part in dance classes. At the moment, the most likely hypothesis is that the sudden illness was caused by the heat, since there was no air conditioning in the gym rooms.
