STARHUB will begin selling the Apple iPhone from Wednesday.

Singapore's second biggest mobile operator was the last player to announce last month it would offer the gadget.

Both StarHub and MobileOne, which also announced that it would be selling the iPhone by year-end, started accepting pre-orders for the gadget online late last month.

StarHub will be selling both older iPhone 3G models as well as the newer iPhone 3GS handsets, for prices of between $0 to $688, depending on price plan. Those who sign up for higher subscription plans can get the phone for free or at lower prices.

MORE iPhones will be here in time for Christmas - as telcos StarHub and M1 both announced their plans and pricing for the Apple product on Monday.

Both will start selling the iPhone from Wednesday, dangling lower handset prices and more generous phone packages to sign up users who have yet to get their handsets from Singapore Telecommunications, which has enjoyed a year-plus monopoly on the gadget.

StarHub put out its plans at around 8.30am on Monday. Its customers will pay between nothing and $668, depending on the phone model and plan chosen, which start at $38 monthly.

M1 promptly followed suit, at about 12.30 pm. Its customers will pay between nothing and $658, depending on the model of phone chosen. Its iPhone plans start at $36.

M1, Singapore's smallest mobile operator and which has been bleeding market share to its rivals, is also offering an aggressive package with 10GB of mobile data for its entry-level $36 a month packages, 20 times SingTel's and 10 times StarHub's offer.

Rival SingTel was the first to provide the latest incarnation of the iPhone 3GS to its customers, selling the 3Gs for up to $678. The phone has proven a coup for the telco, as an iPhone user brings in a higher revenue per month on average, compared to a regular phone user.
