As such, the "Picard" is "Star Trek : Picard" doesn't refer to Jean-Luc, but to his daughter (who will take over the starring role in future seasons after Jean-Luc retires or dies at the end of the 1st season). Similar to how "Star Wars : Rise of Skywalker" doesn't refer to Luke, but either to Rey Skywalker or whatever new form of Jedi "Skywalker" will come to mean.
