PAP supporter reminds party to stand firm, rebuts PA critics

I REFER to Mr Muhammad Yusuf Osman's letter on Tuesday ('Advisers to grassroots bodies should be elected MPs') and the People's Association's (PA) reply yesterday ('Why opposition MPs can't be advisers to grassroots bodies').

The PA's role is to propagate and educate the people about government policies and to garner support for the Government. Can we expect opposition MPs to do that?

(Fail GP)

It may seem unfair, but the reality is that no governing party is obliged to help the opposition grow. In fact, it is reasonable to expect the governing party to weaken and demolish its rivals.

(Then in real life you have no friends I assume)

The People's Action Party (PAP) did not obtain power because of the kindness of rival parties.

(No. The only logical statement)

The opposition should learn to succeed through the kind of ingenuity, resourcefulness and creativity that the four presidential candidates have shown.

(The opposition doesnt sue, set constituency boundaries etc)

Life isn't fair and if the opposition gains power, it cannot expect neighbouring countries to ensure a level playing field in international politics, or afford Singapore a chance to prosper.

(Super fail GP)

The PAP should also remember that 60 per cent of the electorate supported its pragmatic policies and shared its vision.

(60% is a 2:1 in university, a C in school. Wow so happy with that score?)

While the PAP is working hard to win more votes, the party must not end up losing these supporters who are starting to get confused.

(Working hard?)

(Are you related to Keng Yam?)

Opposition doesn't sue meh?

In 1981, an unprecedented libel suit took place - Chiam became the only opposition member ever to receive a public apology and out-of-court damages from a PAP leader. He had sued then foreign minister S. Dhanabalan for undermining his professional ability and competence at an election rally. Then defence minister Howe Yoon Chong, Chiam's opponent in Potong Pasir, also made amends for having made similar remarks.

That was an exception. I meant that the opposition doesnt sue the PAP.

Dun know what kind of logic is that, PAP members sue members of the opposition count, Chiam sue PAP members no count. PAP doesn't sue the opposition parties either. "PAP" doesn't sue "Opposition Parties" either. They come out as individuals and file lawsuits against the individuals of the opposition parties. If you want individual who sue an opposition party, there is only 1 example, Chiam See Tong sue SDP

The law is there to prevent pple from pulling bullshit out their ass to ruin someone else's reputation, be it PAP or opposition. If you can prove what you say is true, then you can use it as a weapon. Chiam being a Lawyer knows this well and use it as a weapon to defeat his political opponents.

Pple like Chee who like to use bullshit to support his claims will obviously get into trouble. Freedom of Speech also bears with it the burden of Speaking Responsibly. This is something which most opposition except SDP seem to agree with this which is no different from what PAP is doing right now

You are distracting it from the paint point of the discussion which is the lerrer.

No opposition party has sued a PAP member.

Eh PAP as a party have never sued an Opposition member either. The 2 Lees and GCT sued opposition members as private individuals and not under PAP name. So how does this differ from your statement?
