A former engineer was fined a total of $8,500 on Monday after he was found guilty of posting two electronic documents containing an incitement to violence.

Gary Yue Mun Yew, 36, is the first person to be tried and convicted here after a day-long trial in January.

The unemployed man was fined $6,000 for posting the document on the Temasek Review page on Aug 9, 2010 consisting of a link to a video clip depicting the assassination of former president Anwar Sadat with a comment that a live version of it should be re-enacted 'on our own grand-stand during our national's parade!!!!!'.

He was given a $2,500 fine for posting another document on his own Facebook page of a doctored photograph showing General Nguyen Ngoc Loan executing then Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng whose head and the logo of the People's Action Party were superimposed on the original Pulitzer prize winning photograph by Eddie Adams.
