SINGAPORE: Four Singaporeans have been quarantined in Tibet after an Italian woman, who is part of their tour group, was found having a high fever during a H1N1 flu check at the Nepal-Tibetan border.

The 20-member tour group has been quarantined in the Tibetan town of Zhangmu near the Nepalian border since Saturday.

The group had hoped to be released on Tuesday after the suspect patient's blood test result was out.

However, the result was inconclusive and had to be sent to Beijing for further testing.

Channel NewsAsia spoke to one of the Singaporeans who wanted to be known only as Mr Lim.

He says he doesn't know how long they will be quarantined.

Singapore's Foreign Ministry says it is in touch with the four Singaporeans and has been rendering the necessary consular assistance.

No one else from the tour group has shown any symptoms of the virus.
