SINGAPORE: A 29-year-old Singaporean man has been jailed three months for bringing in a stun gun and a knuckle duster.
The stun gun which was shaped and functions like a torch light was initially not discovered by immigration authorities.
It was only when the knuckle duster was detected during an X-ray screening that the stun gun, labelled "Heavy Duty Stun Gun", was found in the luggage.
Melvin Lim, a project supervisor, was arrested at Changi Airport on 27 May on two charges of possessing a housebreaking implement or offensive weapon after the items were found in his check-in luggage.
Lim had failed to declare the items upon arrival from China where he had travelled to on 19 May.
Knuckle dusters are pieces of metal designed to wrap around a person's knuckles to inflict more damage with a blow from the fist.
Lim had said that he had brought the items back as souvenirs and had no intention of using them to cause harm.
He could have been jailed for up to two years for each charge.
