There was no electricity running through the power rails due to the outage and SMRT personnel were on hand to guide passengers, added the spokesperson.
There was a power failure at the Bukit Panjang LRT system on Nov 30, leading to 4 trains stalled between stations.
On one of the trains, the door had to forced open so that the passengers can be evacuated via the walkway.
The other trains were manually driven to the nearest station by rovers.
In SMRT's response to the STOMPer :
"There was a major train disruption on 30 November on the LRT line due to a power failure at Ten Mile Junction. The emergency push button was activated and as a result, four trains stalled between stations. Three of the trains were manually driven to the nearest station by rovers.
"However, one of the trains that was stalled between Bangkit and Fajar could not be manually driven due to a persistent train fault. Train doors had to be forced open for passengers to access the emergency walkway.
"The guideway is safe for access during traffic hours as long as passengers keep within the emergency walkway, i.e., walk between the yellow lines.
"In addition, as there was no electricity running through the power rails (due to the power failure), it was safe for passengers to walk along the guideway.
"SMRT personnel were on hand to guide passengers and to ensure that their safety is not compromised."
