HEALTH Minister Khaw Boon Wan is recovering well after undergoing a heart bypass operation on Tuesday. Doctors found a blockage during a medical examination on Monday and carried out the bypass the next day. A spokesman from the Ministry of Health (MOH) told The Straits Times on Thursday morning: 'He's recovering and should leave hospital in a few days' time.'
The spokesman also told The New Paper that on Wednesday, barely a day after his operation, Mr Khaw was already up and talking. Mr Khaw had undergone an angiogram on his heart on Monday, but the MOH spokesman would not reveal how many blockages Mr Khaw had, except that he was fine before his check-up. The Prime Minister's Office is expected to issue a statement later on Thursday.
