I thought there was?? I briefly turned on the TV to start the Blu ray player...there was a very short clip by the organizer on why they did not excecute, was it the parachute jump? due to cloud cover..??

That's right. It was the right precaution to take.
But having said that, who says there was no cock-up this year? The whole NDP was one big cock-up as it lacks connection with the people except the PAP and their doggies. Whatever they put on show last night was not a reflection of what people really feels about Singapore. NDP 2013 only demonstrates how much the PAP has lost its plot with the people.

I was once excited about the NDP, insisting that my dad also video record the whole show from start to finish. That was when I was a kid.
Once I reached the age of reason, I have more or less stopped giving a fuck. Every 9th of August it's the same old bullshit regurgitated year in, year out, ad nauseum.
Go for an overseas vacation. If not, read a book, dine out, go for a jog, clean your room, or play a video game etc while the NDP is on during that couple of hours. You'll barely notice that the NDP is over.
Here's some food for thought: why is the govt, notorious for its penny-pinching ways when it comes to spending on the people, constantly splurging on the annual NDP which yields almost no tangible economic benefits?

How naive u PAP cock suckers are. You think those participants at NDP like to be there. They were all there by compulsion. As for the spectators, they are made up of students, civil servants, PAP grassroots, NTUC etc. Those watching the parade at home are not doing so for enjoyment, most just wanted to see how the Old Fart is doing and also to see how screwed up the whole display is so that they can go back to office or to coffee shops etc to mock at the whole NDP. Grow up lah!
