Snatch theft suspect arrested

SINGAPORE : Police have arrested a 36-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of snatch theft at Block 700A Ang Mo Kio Central.
On Thursday at about 1.10pm, a 75-year-old woman was returning home from a bank located at Ang Mo Kio Central when the theft occurred.
Upon reaching her front door, a man came from behind and snatched her handbag containing cash and valuables worth about S$4,000.
The elderly victim's handbag was later recovered at the rubbish chute located at Block 725 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.
Her cash of about S$3,700 was missing.
Going through some CCTV footage, police officers spotted the suspect in the vicinity of Ang Mo Kio Hub on Friday at about 3.30pm.
He was targeting a potential victim outside a bank and was arrested on the spot.
The suspect will be charged in court on Saturday. If convicted, he could be jailed up to seven years and caned.
