SMRT has revealed themselves to be a hugely mismanaged organisation requiring bailout from public funds.....

They have now caused a potential breakdown in our foreign relations with China.

It's time the rot stops........

SMRT should be nationalised in public interest.

SMRT should be Nationalised?

TS is FT or what? SMRT is owned by which organisation and who is heading that organistion?

You are dreaming. No one will get sack for obvious reasons.

sg govt should be privatised.

to make it more efficient.

to much lard in the organisation structure.

Nationalizing SMRT won't make difference as the PAP government is profit-oriented. SMRT will still squeeze sinkees for more profits and minimal service.

By the way, SMRT is indirectly owned by the PAP government.

They only sack workers never management.
Just look at the Saw lady, upgrade her to another organisation.

SMRT is already nationalised. It is only 'privatised' in name. Same with SBS (Comfort Delgro), the red/green telcos, DBS, certain land/property developers, SembCorp etc.

Just because a company had launched IPO and it got listed on the stock exchange, does not make it a private company.

Always ask yourself: Who are the majority shareholders? Who sits on their board of directors? What kind of people gets appointed as their CEO?

Profit orientation is the fundamental root cause...driving profit increase qtr after qtr at the expense of maintenance/workers welfare...things bounce to break sooner or later....capitalism is not wrong , just that not suppose to be for everything...national interests and key assets are strategic and should be not be driven for profits...the downside of non profit driven is potential inefficiencies (our saf is a great example of screwup) but that should be countered with system with proper check and balance ....
