I am not a smart watch person, but I reckon some, if not most of you are.

I find the idea of having to recharge a wrist watch regularly to be stupid.
You would rather the watch have disposable batt? I only wear auto watches. Need to move around to wind the watch, so I can't be lazy.

Tag Heuer is marketing their smart watches now and i totally do not fancy that. i think that is not a good move by them. Smart watches and normal watches are totally different segments from each other.

I own relatively cheap quartz fashion watch too but do prefer auto. Not keen on mech too. Quartz watches are very convenient to use.

I've played with several Tiong smart watches and my conclusion is don't waste your money.

- They are not water resistant even though many claimed to be.
- The battery life is abysmal, which is the Archilles heel of many of these cheap watches. The Tiong watches are running a full OS inside a watch, which is a heavy task for any battery. Even the optimized Wear OS sucks juice like hell.
- The software is shitty. I guarantee your personal data will be sent to the CCPee without you knowing.

I'm using Polar watches as I find their HR monitoring more accurate than Garmin or Fitbit. The eco-system is relatively good and easier to understand.

I have always preferred the sweeping hands of an auto. Now I understand Seiko came out with the meca-quartz, which has a sweeping hand.

Until battery technology becomes much better, smartwatches are nothing more than a niche novelty. Even Apple smartwatches aren't selling too well compared to traditional watches.

Hi-beat will make the sweeping hand really nice but spring drive is another level for that.

The cheapest sweeping-hand movement you can buy now is the Bulova precisionist movement, at fraction of the cost of Seiko Springdrive. Taka is selling this at almost 1K but I saw prices as low as 150USD online.
