An Indonesian student from St Joseph's Institution (SJI) was stabbed to death in Jakarta while on a trip home to visit his family.

A report in The Jakarta Post on Thursday said Christopher Melky Tanujaya, 16, was attacked on Monday at a bus shelter in Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

He was on his way home after attending a gathering held by fellow scholarship holders who, like him, study in Singapore.

An assailant with wavy hair reportedly stabbed him, leaving four wounds. The police told The Jakarta Post that the motive behind his murder is unknown.
