About Us
The Singapore Women's Everest Team (SWET) comprises of 6 young women who are attempting to summit the world's highest mountain in 2009. Besides being the first all-female team from Singapore, we are unique as all of us come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, bound by a common aim to challenge our personal assumptions and boundaries.
Formed in 2004, we have proven our mettle as one of the toughest climbing teams in the city-state: climbing at least a mountain every year. Other than that, we’ve also made our case that we’re a team who aren’t afraid to gallop past conventions and pursue our desires.
With that in mind, the objectives of our expedition are to:
1. Increase female participation in the Singapore mountaineering scene
2. Provide a platform for like-minded young climbers to realise their dreams
3. Motivate individuals to develop themselves to their fullest potential
Everest, symbolically, embodies values of passionate pursuit, resilience, tenacity, and a sense of enterprising adventure. SWET encapsulates our firm belief that passion and conviction can bring dreams into reality. In spirit, this expedition extends beyond mountaineering. Through our journey, SWET provides a platform for us to attempt the seemingly-impossible, and we hope to inspire others to do likewise.
