SINGAPORE: Some students have been cheating in their National Physical Fitness Award (NAPFA) tests by paying others to do it for them.

However, schools claim they are unaware of such a practice.

The Physical Training Phase (PTP) in National Service was extended from four to eight weeks starting this month - to ensure a more uniform level of fitness among recruits when they start their Basic Military Training (BMT).

But at least two ex-students have come forward to say how they managed to take the test for friends, so that their friends need not undergo the PTP in National Service.

In return, they were paid S$300 in one instance, and a free meal in the other.

More details of how they did it can be found in an exclusive report by Zul Othman in Friday's edition of the TODAY newspaper.
