I am a Rangers fan and I hope that his bid is successful. Will he make money? No. But he will have a lot of fun. Imagine his club Rangers going to the Champions league to playthe big european clubs. He will lose money for sure, as players wages and operating expense will exceed club revenues. But, boy, will he have a lot of fun going to champions league matcheson the continent. I rather lose money this way than the Ho Jinx way, which is to just give it over to some conman who suckered her. OR]

The Singaporean boss of a local football club is behind one of four bids for cash-strapped Scottish champions Rangers, media reports said on Friday.

Bill Ng, the chairman of Hougang United, told media he is leading a Singapore-based consortium that hopes to be the winning bid for the Glasgow giants.

Administrators have received four bids for the venerable 140-year-old club including one fronted by former Rangers director Paul Murray and from groups based in Singapore, Germany and the United States.

The administrators said Thursday they would consider three of the four bids submitted.

"The weakness lies in the people who run the club and I feel that we can do something better," Ng was quoted as saying by the New Paper.

Neither Ng nor staff at his Singapore club were available to confirm the bid when calls were made to Hougang United by AFP.

The New Paper said Ng's group likely submitted a bid of around 20 million pounds ($32 million) for Rangers and the bulk of the money would be used for paying off its creditors.

The bid by Ng's Singapore-based consortium marks the second time investors from the wealthy city-state have attempted to buy a British football club.

Singaporean billionaire Peter Lim in 2010 attempted unsuccessfully to buy English club Liverpool for 320 million pounds.

Administrators were called in to Rangers on February 14 after British tax authorities went to court to seek payment of an unpaid bill of nine million pounds ($14m) built up since owner Craig Whyte took charge at Ibrox in May last year.

Administration is the process whereby a company that cannot pay its debts calls upon independent expert financial help in a bid to remain operational.

I really hope his bid will be successful.. At least he's not using the tax payers money to buy the club.. Rangers is an established name in British football and is a regular in European competitions.. It will be a good deal for Bill Ng if he managed to buy the club..

For sure. Basically, there is only 2 scottish clubs of note. rangers and celtic. Both always in the Champions league. Imagine a singapore owned club playing Man U, barca, Real Madrid, bayern, etc.

Rangers long time not in Champions Lg liao lor...................Celtic also what................

buy Rangers and then sell it for a quick profit is the only hope not to lose money...............otherwise will end up like Saab for sure..........

The Scottish Premier League is like the La Liga. Dominated by two clubs.

But it is much, much shittier than La Liga.

Scottish clubs are going no where. If they compete in Europe, they're easy scalps for other European teams.

Aiyah how also way better than SHIT league. For example nobody knows or gives a hoot about Portuguese league, so when Sporting Lisbon knocked Man City out of the Europa League competition then they realize Man City is overrated. Think of Sporting Lisbon, think of CR7, Wolfswinkel, Postiga. :D

thats good news. This is an iconic club with history. I hope the purchase goes through.

there are recent rumors linking Celtic joining English league 1 ( third division ). as usual the English and Scotish FA denied the rumors. some netizans suggested that if Celtic is so desperate to join the English league, to be fair they should start from non-league. :D

FAS should buy Rangers instead, and send all the national team players there to get european football experience. Even if they play for the reserves or academy is already far better opposition than they will encounter in singapore. Rangers has an excellent training facility and certainly, an arrangemetn could be made to trial promising young sinkie players there. I have followed rangers since schoolboy days. My favourite club is in the EPL, but they are a club I like.

Correct lah, but still Rangers was losing finalist in 2008 Europa cup. No small feat.

Totally agree with your analysis. Scottish teams will never win CL football which is where all the money is.

Regardless, Rangers is still 10 times better than our national team. How embarassing is it for the FAS to know that the best singapore team is not the team they are fielding?

Don't forget Nani hor! :D

"Go home. Get back to your own country’. It’s the classic mantra of the racist. And it’s the latest mantra of the hate-filled hordes that infest the home stands at Ibrox and the away stands wherever Rangers fans follow follow their team. Although it’s questionable whether they ever frequent any of these venues to actually watch Rangers FC play football. They seem, to many observers, far more intent on spewing forth all manner of hateful dirges that have no connection with football whatsoever."

Frankly, no one gives a shit about Shit League or the Singapore National Team. They were really pathetic in the WC qualifiers against Iraq, a 7 -1 loss was a f**king disgrace! you're playing for the pride of the country, the Crescent Moon and Five Stars FFS!

Raddy Avramović should quit or be fired (which is unlikely).

I think the group fronted by Paul Murray will probably get it.
The group from the USA want to liquidate and change the name of the club, hence they are probably out.
During Fergie's time in charge of Aberdeen, Aberdeen were very successful too, and were challenging the big 2.
Hearts also did so for a short while, but it has been Rangers and Celtics since then. Now probably only Celtic.
At the football level, they are a good club, managed to scout players like Jelavic who is playing well for Everton now.
Many successful players and managers from Scotland are now playing for and managing English clubs.
Scottish managers in BPL include Fergie, Kenny, Coyle, Moyes, McCleish, Lambert.
This small country is not short of football talent.

Yes, plus Rangers had some good players too. Frank De boer, Paul Gascogne, Gramme Sounness, etc. all played for them at one time or another.
