SINGAPORE: SingTel has been fined a total of S$380,000 for disruptions in its fixed line voice and pay-TV services on three days in 2011.
It was fined S$300,000 by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) for the breakdown in its mio Voice fixed line telephone services, which affected around 500 subscribers.
Its subsidiary internet service provider branch, SingNet, was fined S$80,000 by the Media Development Authority for disruptions to its pay-TV service, mio TV, which affected some 850 subscribers.
The disruptions in both services happened on 28 and 29 October in parts of Pasir Ris, Changi and Tampines; and on 4 November in parts of Bukit Panjang, Bukit Timah and Woodlands.
Investigations by the IDA found that they were caused by a hardware capacity limitation.
SingTel has since upgraded the hardware capacity of all relevant equipment, including areas not affected by the disruptions.
