Full day occupancy unlikely with the pandemic.10 to 15 pickups a day sounds doable
Hardly impressive. First off the $9,017.22 is simply revenue, that's not really the driver's earnings. A low end sedan car is now renting for approximately $70 per day, so that works out to be around $2,100 for Sept. If the driver owns a car, then he will incur the usual cost of car ownership which shouldn't be too far away either.View attachment 124426

Good boy. Now do the same math with Temasek investmentsHardly impressive. First off the $9,017.22 is simply revenue, that's not really the driver's earnings. A low end sedan car is now renting for approximately $70 per day, so that works out to be around $2,100 for Sept. If the driver owns a car, then he will incur the usual cost of car ownership which shouldn't be too far away either.
The driver has made 340 pickups for the month, so assuming that each pickup averages 20km and a fuel efficiency of 15km/L, the math would add up to 340 x 20 / 15 = 453L. That's just petrol used when the car is fetching someone, if you add another 25% for idle time when the driver is alone that works out to 566L. Currently the cost of fuel is around $2.50 per liter after discount, so fuel cost for Sept would be 544L x $2.50 = $1,415.
So the net earnings after factoring car and fuel cost is only $9,017 - $2,100 - $1,415 = $5,502. For a pro forma analysis compared to a normal salary worker, if you factor in employer's CPF which they are not entitled, the like for like salary is $5,502 / 1.17 = $4,702. As you can see it's decent enough, about the pay of a non-managerial executive in a white collar job.
We now take a look at working hours. The guy has 340 pickups. Assuming each trip on average takes 0.5 hours, that would mean he has driven his a minimal of 170 hours when he had a passenger in the car. Sticking with the original assumption of 25% time in which he is alone in the car moving in between to pick up jobs, that works out to 170 x 120% = 213 hours for the month. Official working hours of PMEs are usually 44 hour work weeks, i.e. ~185 hours per month before OT.
So we can safely say the best a Ryde driver can make is roughly equivalent to a non-managerial PME with moderate amounts of OT without the usual bonus and medical/leave benefits.
PS: I suspect I am being too conservative in the working hours based on anecdotal PHV drivers I know. One probably needs to hit the roads 12 hours a day every day for Sept in order to get a gross revenue of $9,017, but even with my very conservative calculations, you can see that PHV driver in a best case scenario ain't exactly that great of a job.
Ma6be company using this to get more drivers. Why did he prove that he earns 9k a month?
Many people actually quietly hide their income.
