Last week, I went to watch a toddler karate class of which my nephew was demonstrating too. While waiting, I witness a Singaporean father push open the glass door to come in, just then, an angmo toddler runs to the glass door and held the door opens with both her hands for the sinkis to come in. Confuse by what was happening, the sinkis kept one hand on the glass door as both he and the ang mo toddler stare at each other for several seconds.

just then, the ang mo mother reminded the sinkis, "she is holding the door open for you", but instead of saying, thank you, the sinkis replied, "I am worry she might caught her fingers in between the door", and the sinkis just walks off.

i cannot remember the last time anyone said a thank u to me for pressing onto the 'open' button of the lift while waiting for them to get in.

social graces... what social graces?

Harloe...what's there to be shamful??

The sinkiee was concerned abt the fingers being trapped...

Never say never, any thing is possible in the world.

The best example is those swing doors in some supermarkets.
I have lost count of the number of people who go in and let the door swing violently back.

Most sinkies (though not all) can be rude, obnoxious and ungracious. Most of the time it's better not to over-analyse the situation when a simple heartfelt "Thank you" will do nicely!;);)
