U are missing the main question here. What is in it for the PAP to create so many new political appointments and pay them so generously? After all, its the people's money that is wasted here. What do they benefit directly from all this? The PAP does not do anything unless it profits them. You cannot say that they need all these yes men to stroke their ego, they already have enough of them. You cannot say that they are related to Familee or FamiKwa, those families are not that big. U cannot say that these are so talented that the PAP has to find a spot for them in the govt. Most of them are scholars and are useless in public service. U cannot say that Gay Loong's backside is so big that he needs so many people to kiss it.
The answer is as always, with the PAP, MONEY. Follow this logic. every single political appointee that the PAP installs in the govt has to be a PAP card carrying member, agreed? If you are not a PAP member, why would they appoint you. There is a policy in PAP that all members of the PAP in govt have to give a percentage of their income to the party. MPs, for example, give at least 10% of their salary back to the coffers of the PAP. Therefore, the more PAP members you have in high paying govt jobs, whether these jobs are fraudulently created or not, the more money is kicked back to the PAP. If one of these salaries for these MOS is $1 million, the PAP gets at least $100K. The PAP foundation is one of the richest in Singapore, and they are in many money maker enterprises like PAP Kindergartens and what not. U can try and get a copy of their Financial statements from the ROS. I have tried before. But you could not order it. U can order the WP one. Maybe its me. But someone should get a copy and see how much money is coming in every year from membership dues and tithes.
