The local kueh business has no future in Singapore.

For the amount of time and effort needed to make the kueh, they can't sell it for more than a buck a piece. What's the point?

They are better off selling fraps, bubble teas or western coffees and cakes, all of which can sell for $4 to $5 each.

Other than these true blue local delicacies, our true blue hawker trade needs to be preserved desperately.
The market street hawker now relocated to Telok Ayer side, those hawkers still keep to decades old traditional recipes. Patronise them!

Actually BBC should add that locals are slowly dying off being replaced by Pinoys, Indian Nationals and PRC's so what local tradition are you talking about.
