SINGAPORE : The Singapore Red Cross has filed a police report against an employee for misappropriating about S$90,000.
The employee - an administrative assistant from the finance department - has been suspended.
In a statement released Sunday night, the society said the problem was uncovered during internal checks on its accounts on December 1 and that discrepancies started in February this year.
In response to queries from Channel News Asia, the society's secretary general Christopher Chua said the Singapore Red Cross is taking the matter seriously.
He said: "We're investigating and we'll tighten our processes to ensure it doesn't happen again. We'd like to assure the public that their donations will be taken care of."
The society said the employee cannot be named as investigations are ongoing.
The matter has also been reported to the Commissioner of Charities.

Of all places as its Chairman is Mr Tee Tua Ba, former Singapore Police Chief.

If Foreigner then must be really a TALENT, stealing from right under the nose of the Police .

The Vice Chairman is Mr Lim Neo Chian, the Chief of Army in the Singapore Armed Forces from 1992-1995, last holding the rank of Major-General.

This must be super FT.!

What impression does it gives you of our highest paid in the world ?

Complacency, period. Doesn't matter who Chairman is. Only a figurehead.
Everything is waiting to happen - just when?

Red Cross not the first and won't be the last.

hahaha...by the logic of our Government, the employee is underpaid.
RC needs to increase their salary to prevent more corruption cases.
