SINGAPORE: Some 100 students from Yishun Primary School were at a supermarket preparing food ration packs for the needy.
Within 30 minutes, they gathered enough for 300 packs, which were then distributed to residents in the North West District.
This is part of the North West Community Development Council's Cantribute project to engage the young to help the needy in the community.
The annual project aims to raise funds for the North West Food Aid Fund and encourage volunteerism.
"This Cantribute is one of the initiatives by the students. So we would like to continue this Cantribute project on a yearly basis so as to reach out to more students, to let them understand the value of caring and giving," said Dr Teo Ho Pin, Mayor of the North West District.
