Singapore have more than 10 soccer stadium, can host world cup???

S'pore simply does not qualify to host the World Cup since we do not have the required stadiums and infrastructure. A host must possess a minimum of 14 all-seater stadiums with a minimum capacity of 40,000 seats for the Group stage and early knockout stages, a minimum capacity of 60,000 seats for the Semi-Finals as well as a minimum capacity of 80,000 seats for the opening game and Final. Stadium stands must be fully covered by a roof so only the National Stadium qualifies. Pitches must feature natural grass incorporating hybrid reinforcement and ventilation systems. Stadiums must also be handed over to FIFA for an exclusive-use from 30 days before the opening match until 7 days after their last tournament use.

An excellent opportunity to revitalise football in S'pore and the region could lie in a joint bid to host the World Cup in by S'pore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. These Asean nations may showcase our ability to manage a mega global event with aplomb. Owing to the substantially higher cost and more complex infrastructure required to host an expanded tournament involving 48 nations, it makes sense for up to 4 countries to share hosting duties.

Coordinating a successful tournament will help S'pore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand enjoy economic benefits and a similar uplift to our respective national images, strengthen us as allies and help us transcend the sometimes prickly relations that exist between neighbours. A plethora of responsibilities need to be shared to ensure the smooth running of operations, which will include ease of access to stadiums over four countries. The co-ordination of systems must not impede or duplicate that of any of the co-hosts.
