Just a thought, what would be our vision of an alternative govt? Since WP is cautious and don't want to commit yet...I am just really giving a creative spin on the possible coalition alternative government here. What do u guys think? Just dreaming really...but hey, u never know!

President: Tan Kin Lian can go run for this for all I care. No power one but must check carefully. Muahahaha..and while he is at it, I think we would have the world's first prolific blogging President. Insurance policies would surely be v popular then.
MM: LKY (i think few would argue with his stature..only qn is whether he wants to stay on with pp without "track record" but I think we can do with one chap with some benefit of govt legacy..anyway, he said it himself, he needs to work, don't work can die one.)
SM: Chiam See Tong
Prime Minister: Low Thia Khiang
DPM/MOM: Chen Show Mao
MCYS: Nicole Seah
MTI: Tan Jee Say
Finance: Hazel Poa
MFA: Dr Vincent Wijeysingha
MND: Jimmy Lee
MoEnv: Kenneth Jeyaratnam
MOH: Dr Ang Yong Guan
MoTpt: Tony Tan
MLaw: Jeanette Chong-Alrudoss
MHA: Benjamin Pwee
MICA: Goh Meng Seng

Some other dreams:
1) Apart from this, I think oppo if in parliament liao, please stop draining the coffers with 2nd minister titles and "minister in PMO" or "minister without portfolio"
2) Think Oppo teams must declare the salaries they think they should earn now. I think we ought to scrap the crazy sky-high salaries. Don't worry oppo..sosoheaven's opinion is that, not more not less..we benchmark against the world's superpower - USA and whatever Obama earns, PM can also earn. President earn a couple K less. Cabinet ministers +/-. Remember, money is not everything ok. U also get respect and privileges (official car, pension etc.) that normal citizens don't get. We work for Singapore - don't be greedy or the power SG citizens would vote u out the next round.
3) Change the mandatory death penalty to one that exercises discretion. I still believe that the death penalty has kept our streets pretty neat but I think some of the cases deserve a second look.
4) Greatly reduce the ERP gantries to the CBD area. The rest, scrap and burn.
5) Immediately chuck all the S-pass holders out. Services sector (business execs, accounts, managerial levels) is strictly for Singaporeans. If a company has prb recruiting Singaporean, they must make a special-case waiver of this rule and must demonstrate their difficulties to the handling MOM officer. Companies wanting to bring in the white colour, zuo bo bosses, must similarly demonstrate exceptional managerial ability (at least 10 years high-level management) before a permit is granted. This is really to ensure quality and keep a check on companies. Now they any old how say Singaporeans don't want the job. :p
6) Intro minimum wage for undesirable sectors like F&B, cleaning. Also, better migrant worker protection. Singaporeans shld not be allowed to work their maids like crazy every single day. I am sure the smart fellas on the Oppo team can think how all this can be done.
7) Increase casino entry fee (since we cannot ban them outright) for Singaporeans to $500/time no more annual option. Furthermore, u can only visit 3x a year per citizen. Used up, too bad. So while we can say it's for leisure, we make sure it's not a habit.

8) Give citizens CLEAR, FIRST-CLASS privileges. By this, I mean, we need to have solid distinction that citizens are the most valued on this island.
a) HDB flats are solely reserved for citizens. PRs sorry, go and rent/buy private until u decide to sink roots.
b) HDB flat value will surely dip because of (a) but bitter pill got to be swallowed. Citizens who own HDB flat can still rent to PRs or foreigners. Those that can participate in property investments by all means should be given the liberty to pursue it.
c) Minimum occupation period for citizens: 3yrs
d) Create a separate phase for Pri 1 admission exercise. It's called Phase 3- PR, Phase 3B - Foreigners. Singaporeans will and should receive first class choice of entry and not some masak-masak "double coupon" rubbish.

9) All immigrants coming under employment pass/work permit etc must pass a mandatory English test - written and oral. Those applying for PRs must have lived here for at least 2 years and receive proposing testimonials not only from employer but from neighbour and a Singaporean friend. That way we know that chap has assimilated himself/herself well - and found to be not the spitting, screaming, indecent type.

10) Govt hospitals are only for Singaporeans/PRs. Singaporeans get subsidies. PRs sorry, please ensure u have 100% insurance.

11) Landlords must reserve at least 20% of their mall space for start ups at discounted rentals. In food court, 20% of stalls must be set aside for seriously poor families to have a shot at business and entrepreneurship. This is the sort of leg up pp need.

12) Not only good childcare, good elderly care centres must be energetically created. This is urgent. Rehabilitative and palliative care is desperately needed.

13) Number of medical school places in SG must be tripled. Those PRs or foreigners wanting to take up a place in the medical faculty must convert to citizenship.

14) Temasek/GIC had better publish annual reports.

15) Core essential services like energy, transportation (SMRT - oh my, don't we all wanna fire this lady), medical, education etc - must all be taken back from private ownership. Corporations' incentives is to profit the shareholders. We cannot afford this to carry on at the expense of the citizens since the state must have an inherent responsibility to its people.

Ahh...policy making is really tiring (now I know liao)..hmm..shall rest my case here..all the rest of u, please contribute what u can. I am humble, everything I write here isn't the only way of doing things..so feel free to criticise, add, drop items. Hahahaha...
