Once Humans start to panic buy, it is almost impossible to stop them, even with facts as such panic buying will have negative consequences. But we must still try..
1)Most of such panic buying came from hawkers & food court tenants. They can't sell chicken rice without chicken. Their livelihood is at stake. Ordinary consumers have only so much space in their fridge.
2)The misguided decision by Msia to ban chicken exports on 1 Jun to protect its own food supply had only caused its producers to stop producing & DUMP their produce now to the highest bidders. Its a free market, causing even less supply for their own countrymen
3) Only 1/3 of chickens come from Msia. With panic buying here, it had artificially pushed up prices, resulting in the other 2/3 suppliers laffing all the way to the bank
4) Already, plans are underway to meet the 1/3 shortage. Once it arrives, there will be a glut & hoaders left crying as the price of chicken will fall.
5) Chicken suppliers & stall owners can raise prices all they want, but as salaries had not kept pace with inflation, consumers will stay away. The consequences - stagflation & rotting chickens.

The street walking kinds are known as free ranging chickens. Known to be more lean and hungry (good for us!)
