Hi, I’m a Singaporean Indian who has been quite disappointed with SINDA. Over the years many of my friends have enquired SINDA regarding scholarships for further education. I myself have helped many young hopeful locals apply for these.
They always reply that they have MDIS, PSB and other instituitions, but when asked if they are able to help lessen the financial burden of youth taking up degrees at universities like James Cook University (JCU), they decline the appeals.
Many of the courses from MDIS for example the psychology course is from OCU. PSB certificates are things that one no honours and its still considered long-distance learning. Institutions like JCU are universities themselves which offer much more prospect, and it surely would be easy for SINDA to do a tie-up.
I told SINDA that these youth don’t mind volunteering their free time as well if they got such assistance, but SINDA outright declined their pleas and said no such thing. After that, they then referred them to SIET, who also gave the same negative reply. So I got fed up, I gave up trying to make things work.
I actually went and asked Mendaki and to my surprise they said if they have a slot for me, they’ll help. In contrast, I didn’t even get so much as a “we’ll try” from SINDA. In the first place I feel all the welfare bodies should be one organisation, and not divided racially. Its hypocritical and only divides people further Welfare should be applied as as one people, as Singaporean.
So every local Indian paid 3 bucks to SINDA, and they got nothing out of it. Even if they get Govt funding, there’s no transparency at all. Those guys driving merc getting scholarship, but for Indians who are in need of financial help, even if they excel in their studies, they are not getting it at all.
That is why there are lots of social problems among Indian youth. They lost interest in studies due to financial problems, and parents are busy working day and night just to sustain a basic living. The Indian MPs in parliament are sitting there just to get a feel of free aircon, caring about their world’s highest paychecks, and carrying LKY’s rotten balls. They are not voicing out any concerns for the community.
I really hope that in the next election people vote PAP out of parliament, and especially the Indian MPs. Many in the local Indian community think that the Indian MPs are some of the worst in the PAP. Their faces are damn irritating every time we see them on the tv like Vasantham or the newspaper, smiling like idiots. This goes out to especially K Shanmugam and Vivian Balakrishnan.
Of course the king of the fools is SR Nathan. All he does is shake head in parliament, shake hand with delegates, shake legs in istana, and shake whatever he has left in the toilet.
Thank you,
K. Samy
