Singaporeans had all the time in the world to question the government’s logic of providing both the 3-hour and 24-hour psi in consideration of the health effect the haze would have on them when exposed for prolonged duration. Notice how lengthy the opening statement is? That’s because the PAP is trying overly hard to get Singaporeans to buy into their logic, which i believe originated from the equally talented people in NEA.
Unfortunately, this government is already hell-bent to conceal the instant and most current readings from Singaporeans. The main reason, which simple folks like us could see very clearly, is all about sustaining our GDP, the economic health indicator used by the PAP government of our country.
Any adverse decisions which may give a negative dent to the GDP, is never to be considered. It is anathema to even think about it. We know there are certain train of thoughts that says whether the government go with the people or with the hard bullet, the people are going to suffer all the same – either way. And since that is the rationale, going with the continual prosperity of the country is the logical option. When a decision is made under this logic, the Devil is unleashed, for everyone knows where the roots of money lead to.
And in order to pursue the logic of sustaining the economy at critical juncture such as the haze, the actual and damaging picture has to be either doctored or presented in such a way that the real danger is concealed and becomes obscured – therefore the 24 hour psi reading is preferred.
I believe that when NEA first started to give the 3-hour readings, out must have felt that out was safe to use it. This is because the highest psi ever recorded was 16 years ago. Surely 2013 is not going to be much different from the last few years. However, when the haze levels started giving 3-hour psi record breaking figures, the 16 year old game plan has to change, to keep the people working and contributing to the economy. In came a wider range of numbers, from 3 hours to 24 hours – to produce an average reading that is most safe for the economy. But how safe is it for the people?
We have already seen our third reported haze-related fatality. Respiratory patients with outpatient hospital appointments with specialists are skipping their appointments for fear of aggravating their respiratory conditions. Should their conditions deteriorate, would they or their families know at which hour of the day is best to venture out and make that trip to the hospital?
With a 24 hour reading, they are never going to get to know the current and actual haze situation outside. Worst still if they are given a false sense of security when the readings could be another record breaking one on the hour they venture out. Another respiratory patient would be murdered, and he or she could be one near and dear to you – but not quite as near or dear to the economy.
These days, many are discovering that you only believe in the PAP at your own peril. Remember also, believing the press and the MSM is as good as believing the PAP, for those are nothing more than PAP News Mediums.
