Our security agencies have to keep up and adapt swiftly to new challenges and threats in an increasingly complex world. For Singapore’s external intelligence agency, the Security and Intelligence Division, this includes a fresh approach to recruitment.
This low-key agency under the Ministry of Defence, Singapore (MINDEF) recently launched its website. This is the first time since its creation in 1966 that it has invited publicity. The main aim is to attract talent. The website also explains a little of the agency’s work, including on counter-terrorism, cyberattacks and information warfare, and even climate change, which affects the stability of our region and hence the security of our nation.
The SID makes a major contribution to securing Singapore’s national interests, but its efforts and hard work are usually kept away from the public eye. Do visit www.sid.gov.sg to find out more about the agency, especially if you are interested in contributing to its vital mission
