Philippines biggest mistake was asking US to leave subic navy base and Clark airforce base. And lky quietly invited US to set up in changi instead.
Those bases were contributors to philipino evonomy. It had a repair yard and because of that, Philippines need not spend so much on defence.
 
China is now a superpower and therefore a new bully in town. Just like the US, international law does not apply to superpowers. They do as they please.
