Many Thai hostesses work at China Secret bar in TST visited by COVID-19 infected 22-year-old student, Thai hostess allegedly infected earlier
11:54AM Sun October 4, 2020

4th October 2020 – (Hong Kong) A 22-year-old male student (Case No. 5107) with an unknown source of infection was diagnosed for COVID-19 yesterday. He had been to the China Secret Bar at Lee Chau Commercial Building, 11, Hart Avenue in Tsim Sha Tsui on 23rd September.

Sources confirmed that a 26-year-old Thai woman who was diagnosed earlier in Hong Kong (Case No. 5098) was suspected of serving as a hostess in the same bar and living with more than a dozen people. There is no sign outside the bar, only a “licensed snack restaurant” license issued by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and “Liquor Licensed Premises” list of the Liquor Licensing Board contains no information on the bar. However, a bar named “CLUB BRO” was registered at the same address. The bar is apparently a members-only club.

The Centre for Health Protection announced earlier that a Thai womanhad been stranded in Hong Kong since March and was diagnosed before returning to Thailand. Dr. Chuang Shuk Kwan, the director of the Infectious Disease Department, said that she had lived with one or two friends before they returned to Thailand. It is suspected that she was working illegally as a hostess at the bar.
