PM’s National Day message calls for Singaporeans to prepare for life for the next twenty years. He concluded that we should strive to be a “shining red dot 20 years from now”. His message helps pave the way to getting to our shining destination. Let us examine it closer for it will affect everyone of us.

As with every PAP message that has a subliminal undertone, the message opens with the gloom and doom around us. Nothing beats this basic strategy of using a gloomy backdrop and then painting how fortunate we are to be under the care of a government that is able to manage the gloomy climate. So we hear that “the world is unsettled”. That Europe and US face SERIOUS economic problems. That China and India are slowing down. Only tiny Singapore “is doing well”. Please keep this in mind, for there is an underlying reason why we are doing well.

“Today Singapore is a success story … the next two decades will be very different … Singapore will encounter many challenges and opportunities”; Pinky says. “We must ask ourselves some fundamental questions like what future do we see for Singapore, what kind of home do we want for our children”. Well, did you guys notice how he had phrased his questions? “What future do we see for Singapore”. He did not use “Singaporeans” but “Singapore”. That’s because when he refers to Singapore, it may not necessary include the Singaporean. Or else, why would he ask in the same breath what kind of home we hope for our children. Singaporeans already know what kind of home their children would have. It is the new foreigner who does not know.

Next he said “Singapore must always offer hope for a better future … we must always be a fair and just society which CREATES OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL … this is the way TO ROOT able and enterprising Singaporeans here … ”

Listen to the message again. He wants Singapore to be a place that creates opportunity for all. ALL, it means the global citizen. How do we conclude as such? Well, he followed that comment by saying that it is the way to root Singaporeans. Does a local born Singaporean need to be told that his root is here? Who was he addressing the message to other than the foreigner who must decide whether to set their roots here?

And to placate the foreigner, to help him decide for Singapore, he went on to say that “we uphold meritocracy” – as if to tell the foreigner that they are most welcome if they have the merit. He said “we uphold meritocracy, to motivate everyone to try their best”. Well, he didn’t tell them that in Singapore, meritocracy is not meant to motivate, it is a KPI.

The next part of his speech was to tell the foreigner how affordable it is to live in Singapore. Health care is affordable (forgetting the backlash that Mabok Tan had received), everyone has a stake in Singapore, and the various schemes that go into helping the Singaporean live a dignified life. He wants to tell the world how inclusive Singapore is. He wants every Singaporean to do their part to create an inclusive society. Again the message was directed at the foreigner to do what they have to do to acclimatise themselves to the local norms and habits. He told them to “make the effort to integrate themselves into our local community; to acquire our social values, adopt our social norms and commit their loyalty to Singapore. He didn’t offer any glimpse as to how the foreigner can do this.

Finally, to be the shining red dot that he calls us to be, Pinky tells is that “we need to review our policies more broadly … we must rethink our approaches and reinvent ourselves”. Its as good as telling Singaporeans to adopt a new mindset. A mindset that places the foreigner above us because they are the talent that will sustain us and provide for us. He said “we have to prepare ourselves for what lies ahead”… as if we do not have any other choices.

To put the message across so that there is no lingering doubt to where he was coming from, he mentioned Heng Swee Keat. Remember that HSK was tasked to handle youth matters and integration? That was two days old news. He wants Heng Swee Keat to build a “BROAD CONSENSUS” – which can only mean the inclusion of the foreigner. And if we are looking toward a twenty year period, it can only mean the children of the foreigners in our midst today who will be in their twenties and thirties in twenty years time.
We will then have to remember Pinky’s word that “Singapore is a shared home”. The young foreigner of today will be our masters in 20 years time.
Happy National Day – 20 years in advance.

I find it very odd that PM Lee should single out a specific person Heng SweeKiat and speak as though HSK is a universally accepted, super super powerful smart and human being deemed capable and just in solving problems. From his days as MAS Boss MR HSK has demonstrated very little intelligence or creative or expertise in managing the plight of singaporeans affected by the greedy banks illegal peddling of toxic products which robbed thousands of singaporeans of life savings. As boss of MAS i suppose he might have done some technically intricate “good” decisions. But spare a thought for his kaki’s i am sure they were the one who actually feed him with good advice and he takes the credit. This is life.
From my observations, HSK is merely an obedient goody goody civil servant doing whatever the boss thinks he should do. HSK and Keechiu now falls into the ranks of the master parachuters layed out by the gods, given very very specific mention which makes all other ministers look as incompetent.
From the HR point of view, this is also a strategic error. A boss should not artificially elevate any employee who is not previously proven. IT erodes the morale and confidence of the entire team.
We dont have good leaders anymore in singapore. When will the bubble burst?

LSL is going to push through the Pro-Immigration policy no matter we, Singaporeans, like it or not. He desperately need new voters to overcome the rapid slight in support from native Singaporeans. To do this, he is going to create a lot of smoke screens – Singaporeans Core; Singaporeans First; Slowdown and Regulate importation of immigrants; etc.
The only real opportunity for native Singaporeans to get back our beloved nation is vote out the papies in GE 2016. That is still a good 4 years from now – let hope in the meantime, no big damage is done to this Singaporeans’ Singapore.

It is undeniable that they need the votes of the new citizens to remain in power. And for that reason, the influx of foreigners will continue or even increase over the next few years until 2016.

For them to stop the flood of foreigners into Singapore is political suicide. It would be certain loss in the next GE.
Sadly, our only hope again is for a recession to slow the number of foreigners coming here.

Singaporeans will surely get to see the reality of an affordable home, and raise a family of 4 kids – BUT WITHOUT THE PAP in Government.
This was the wonderful surrounding before the PAP got into power after GE-1959.
Singaporeans will have to learn from the confidence of the 1950s generation that threw out the useless LIM Yew Hock Government, and gave the opportunity of a lifetime to a young lawyer with the gift of the gab – named Harry Lee – and a team of young and enthusiastic migrants from Malaya, India, and Sri Lanka – to form a NEW Singapore Government, even when all of them had ‘ZERO political track record, and ZILCH experience in Government’.
Still Singaporeans had confidence in themselves and this group of INEXPERIENCED politicians led by a young Harry Lee, and together brought Singapore through thick and thin.
After 53 years, it is time for Singaporeans to find that confidence and give the opportunity of a life to the Alternative Political Parties – even if they have ‘ZERO political track records, and ZILCH experience in Government’.
Giver our future a chance to succeed WITHOUT the PAP in Government.

Nice wake up call for those new Singaporean, the shit they will be facing. Their children will suffer once they are raised here, no longer will they have freedom like their parents do. I have PR colleagues with children born here. With all the bullshit tales, I had showed them how PAP mistreats their own nationals. Now none of them want to make their children to be Singaporeans. My advice to born Singaporeans, make friends with your foreigner colleagues, show them the hell their children will go through if they choose to stay here. We are just slaves to the PAP slaves master.
These people are humans too. We cant help them, but we can only advice them on the truth. We have no other home than this island. At least show them, they have an escape route unlike us. They should not suffer like we do. Its only right that they leave this place, and not become slaves to the Demon Gods of the PAP.

Is Sinkapore substainable in this flux that is at least a gen long or even longer?

There is no hidden message at all.
The PM is simply stating the facts and reality. There is no spin on the issues and what it takes to move forward.

Of course we are sustainable.
More sustainable than many countries in fact.

Where is your prove ?

Hurry up, the Zoo animals are waiting for you to get feed and fuck by you kinana :D

Many assume that the foreigners will vote for the PAP.

Many of them might decide not to get involved in "local politics":) After all for many of them are just here to work:rolleyes:

Some expect singkies will vote oppo. Not a chance for most singkies
