Straits Times highlight that Chua Eng Leong is the son of former minister Chua Sian Chin. This is obviously to help Eng Leong ride on the pedigree of his father.
However Straits Time has never mentioned that SingTel CEO Chua Sock Khoong is the daughter of Chua Sian Chin. This is most likely an attempt to play down whispers of political links, nepotism, cronynism.
How can Chua Sock Khoong be SingTel's CEO for so long without having to step down and make way for new blood? Prominent civil servants and CEOs like Hsien Fu Hua moved from job to job (from SGX etc) because 'their job is done' and 'to make way for new blood'.
What did Chua Sock Khoong accomplish? Drive up the price of bidding for EPL broadcast, and then now claim that SingTel is subsiding the viewers. Subside my foot: if SingTel had not overbidded, then the price will not need to be high in the first place, and there would not be any 'subsidy'.

<!--start of story text-->THE People's Action Party (PAP) is rebuilding its team in Aljunied GRC, and its latest addition comes with political pedigree.
Mr Chua Eng Leong, 42, son of former Cabinet minister Chua Sian Chin, was appointed the ruling party's branch chairman for the Eunos ward last month.
He takes over from former senior minister of state for foreign affairs Zainul Abidin Rasheed, who was part of the PAP's losing slate in the 2011 General Election.
The elder Mr Chua, who has suffered from dementia since the late 1990s, held portfolios like health, education and home affairs in the 1960s and 1970s.
