From banking halls to magazine covers, local glamour model Dr Lena Li has now added another milestone to her unconventional journey.
The 35-year-old told Stomp she was "thrilled" to be the first Singaporean nominated for the 'Emerging Star' award at this year's Influencer Magazine Awards (IMA), which she sees as a major milestone in her journey from the corporate world to the glamour spotlight.
"It's a recognition that reflects my bold journey from banking to glamour modelling, backed by my PhD in Business and Law and my growing global media presence," she said.
Born to a Chinese father and French mother, Dr Li is single and lives in Singapore with her elderly parents.
The Stomper earned her doctorate from the University of London and says her multicultural background has shaped her drive to connect with audiences around the world.
She left her job at Citibank Singapore, where she was a public relations manager, to pursue part-time modelling alongside her work as a freelance business consultant.
Since then, she has been featured in publications such as Vogue Monaco as well as Maxim and FHM in Australia.
The IMA is an annual international event celebrating individuals whose personalities, expertise and influence have made a positive impact. This year's ceremony will be held in the UK on Oct 1, with the winner featured on a Times Square billboard in New York City.
Dr Li is confident she can take home the title.
"I believe I have a strong shot at winning due to my unique story and international appeal, even though the competition in the emerging influencer space is tough," she shared.
"I hope to leverage this platform to increase my visibility, inspire others to chase their dreams, and challenge stereotypes, all while remaining deeply grateful to my supporters."
