20 loanshark suspects held
By Sujin Thomas

POLICE arrested 20 people on Thursday in an islandwide operation for assisting in unlicensed moneylending.

Officers conducted simultaneous raids at various locations in Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Hougang and Robinson Road over a 12-hour period.

The group arrested comprised 17 men and three women aged between 21 and 62 years.

Investigations revealed that the suspects had opened bank accounts and given away their ATM cards and personal identification numbers (PIN) to loanshark syndicates so money could be moved.

Seventeen are believed to be debtors themselves.

All the bank accounts have been seized and police said that investigations are ongoing

Why many people blame loan Shark only.
The main problem is the people borrow/loan money from Ah Long.
I think gov. should jail those take loan fron Ah Long.

Apparently ppl take loans from ah long only because the banks rejected their loans...blame the banks...
