Shanghai Shenhua insist that they will make an official announcement in due course following the media frenzy surrounding the future of coach Jean Tigana.

It had been reported that the former Fulham boss handed in his resignation after a disappointing start to the Chinese Super League (CSL) season, despite making several notable high-profile additions in the off season, with ex-Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka taking over the hotseat indefinitely.

However, a statement on the club's official website read: "Recently, it has come to our attention that Chinese and foreign media outlets have reported stories relating to Jean Tigana and the club.

"In response, Shanghai Shenhua hereby declare that all these rumours lack any factual substance and are one sided.

"The club would like to thank the community, fans, and the media for their concern, and we will release official news as soon as possible when conclusions have been reached."

Shenhua are currently 12th in the CSL with just one win from their opening six games, and face Dalian Shide on Saturday.
