Tiles in Tampines flat pop up and crack in 'earthquake'
The tiles in STOMPer Don's Tampines flat popped up and cracked suddenly on Saturday (Jul 2) evening. The STOMPer said his living room shook when the tiles cracked, as if it was an 'earthquake'.
STOMPer Don recounted the incident:
"When I moved in to the apartment, there was this little area where it feels like it is bumped up and we got no idea what is the reason.
"So we decided to leave it alone.
"For all these years, it was alright until last night.
"The ground started to shake and it cracked across the hall in the living room.
"As you can expect, this area is now raised up and it feels dangerous to be standing there.
"We have no idea what causes it but my guess is the air that is trapped inside. And the heat caused the air to expand.
"Waiting for a contractor to take a look ASAP.
"There was construction around the area but that doesn't seem to be the cause.
"I live on the 4th floor.
"Great! Must spend more money to re-tile my whole floor."
