Serial lift molester sentenced to jail, 13 strokes of cane

A man who molested female victims on their way home late at night or early in the morning in mostly Housing Board lifts was sentenced to 7 1/2 years ' jail and 13 strokes of the cane on Friday.

Technician Mohamed Shah Abu Bakar, 39, committed nine offences including outrage of modesty and aggravated outrage of modesty against five victims within a week in February this year. He had also exposed himself to two victims in 2011.

In July, he pleaded guilty to four charges involving three victims aged 13 to 21. The rest were taken into consideration.

The prosecution had highlighted various aggravating factors in this case to urge the court for a total sentence of seven to eight years' jail plus caning.
