A 17-year-old student from Serangoon Junior College died on Monday (Oct 22) after being hit by a minibus. She had entered a coma which she never came out of after suffering from liver, lung and head injuries.
Vernise Kwa, a first-year student, was on her way to school from Sengkang last Friday (Oct 19) morning at around 8am, when she was hit by a minibus. She had been crossing the stretch of road after Compassvale Bow.
She was then sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where she was operated on three times. Vernise's parents and her 14-year-old brother had spent three days keeping vigil at her bedside.
Further details are of the accident are still unknown, but the bus driver is assisting the police in their investigations. Police are also appealing for information about the accident.
"I don't blame anyone, I just want to know what happened. I just want fairness for her," said her father.
