What's so special about the YO flame even it's once in a lifetime? The only thing i like about YOG is that i know MIWs will lose some votes from this stupid event.

To take advantage of this opportunity? PAP miscalculated and barking on the wrong tree. I guess it's the opps that taking on this opportunity.

Get into the YOG spirit

ACTRESS Joanne Peh, pop singer JJ Lin, and swimming legend Alexander Popov are among the 2,400 fortunate people who will get to hold and run with the Youth Olympic torch when the torch relay starts on Saturday.

But organisers want as many others as possible to be able to see it, take photos with it, and touch, what has grown into a key symbol of the Olympics.:eek:

Speaking at Thursday's welcome ceremony for the flame's arrival here on a chartered jet, MCYS Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan recalled the reception in Ancient Olympia, Berlin and Auckland when he joined the flame's journey around the world.

'The key thing which I want is to see that our own Singaporeans also get infected by this same infectious spirit, that they understand there's something special about the Olympic flame,' he said.
'That this is the first and possibly the only time in our lifetimes that the flame will be here. And we need to take advantage of this opportunity to celebrate.':o

Senior Parliamentary Secretary (MCYS) Teo Ser Luck has been put in charge of the local leg of the torch relay, which begins on Saturday and lasts until next Friday, a day before the YOG's opening ceremony.

..... And we need to take advantage of this opportunity to celebrate.'....

How to celebrate when the axe may fall anytime and the 100,000 new FT's coming in will take over your job.

Who and how are you going to pay for your mortgage loan on the HDB you bought at historically high prices?

The FT's that broke Singaporeans rice bowls should all be there to thank the party that bring them in.They should take turns singing in Filipino (Tagalog ),
mainland Chinese(with its peculiar slang), Hindhi (taking over Tamil) and
Burmese.

I'm sure the Filipino, PRC, Indian and Myanmar contingents will feel very at home with so many of their people in ther stands.
